Private pre-beta onboarding needs an invite. If install or registration stalls, start here — then reach us from the in-app support link or GitHub issues.
Asked for an invite code
Fresh providers cannot finish registration without a valid invite. The public /host download still works, but Malibu will ask for your code before admitting a new Mac.
- Open the invite link you were sent (
malibu.tech/j#/…), copy the code, and paste it when Malibu asks.
- If you landed here without an invite, ask the person who referred you — or wait for the next seed wave. There is no open self-serve join right now.
- Already-running providers do not need a new invite for updates or restarts.
Gatekeeper blocked the download
Malibu ships signed and notarized. macOS should open it without extra steps. If you see “Malibu can’t be opened”:
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security.
- Scroll to the security section and click Open Anyway for Malibu.
- Re-open the
.dmg from Downloads and drag Malibu to Applications.
Do not run xattr -cr unless support asks — it bypasses checks we rely on for provider integrity.
Login item / “Open at Login” denied
Malibu registers as a login item so your provider can restart after reboot. If you declined during onboarding:
- Open System Settings → General → Login Items.
- Enable Malibu under “Open at Login”.
- Relaunch Malibu and click Launch Provider again.
Malibu never re-enables this without you clicking — if status shows disabled in the app, use the in-app nudge or Settings above.
First model download stuck
After launch, Malibu downloads the best model for your Mac. Large weights need disk space and a stable connection.
- Confirm at least 30 GB free on your boot volume (70B-class models need more).
- Stay on power and avoid sleep until the progress bar completes.
- Check Malibu’s menu bar status — “Starting…” usually means the bundled provider is still warming up (give it 2–3 minutes).
- Use Check for Updates in the Malibu menu if the app or provider version looks stale.
If it fails repeatedly, quit Malibu, delete ~/Library/Application Support/Malibu/models, and launch again.
Uninstall
- Quit Malibu from the menu bar.
- Drag Malibu.app from Applications to Trash.
- Remove the login item in System Settings → Login Items if still listed.
- Optional — remove local data:
~/Library/Application Support/Malibu and ~/macprovider (CLI track only).
- CLI track only:
launchctl bootout gui/$(id -u) ~/Library/LaunchAgents/live.streamvc.macprovider.plist
Wallet keys and earnings history live on-chain / coordinator-side — uninstalling the app does not delete your provider identity.
